Increased broccoli yields in Mexico!
Great news: broccoli hollow stem is reduced with the use of Thio-Sul®, KTS® and CaTs®.
Thio-Sul stabilizes nitrogen, making it more efficient and reducing the negative contributions of this element. It also solubilizes the nutrients, such as boron, which are part of the soil structure fixed in the soil and made available to the plant; meanwhile, KTS and CaTs, as a source of potassium, calcium, and sulfur, improve quality and reduce the formation of hollow stem.
In the Mexican Bajío, Central Mexico, the market demands that producers guarantee high quality broccoli at harvest time. In Mexico, broccoli is very popular due to its fiber, vitamin, and antioxidant content. Tessenderlo Kerley thiosulfates have been used in fertilization programs in the region from the early stages of crop development and even before harvest as they have been shown to reduce hollow stem.
In commercial trials with producers, the application of Thio-Sul, KTS, and CaTs resulted in increased yield thanks to reduced hollow stem. Furthermore, the inflorescence was confirmed as having greater firmness and uniformity in size.
In summary:
-
Thio-Sul improves the efficiency of nitrogenous solutions by reducing the contributions of the element
-
KTS increases the quality of the broccoli by improving the firmness of the inflorescence
-
CaTs strengthens the cell structure, reducing hollow stem
Average application per hectare:
Thio-Sul: 80 - 100 liters
KTS: 80 - 120 liters
CaTs: 60 - 100 liters
