Melons
The most popular melon varieties include watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe. Melons require warm temperatures, plenty of sunshine and a long growing season (70 - 90 days). Melons are a very healthy fruit featuring a low energy density, which helps add volume to a diet without adding many calories.
Water is probably the most important variable in the melon growth cycle. Melon vines are most sensitive to drought between transplanting and fruit formation. Therefore, the soil should be kept consistently moist without becoming waterlogged. Fruit flavor and texture improve if the water supply becomes less frequent as the fruit begins to mature.
The best NPK ratio for balanced melon fertilization is generally considered to be in the range of 1-0.7-2
